How to Cancel NordVPN (2026) — And Get a Refund
NordVPN separates two things people assume are one: turning off automatic renewal, and asking for your money back.
Switching off auto-renew stops future charges but refunds nothing. If you are inside the 30-day guarantee window, you have to contact support and request the refund explicitly.
NordVPN has a 30-day money-back guarantee, but cancelling auto-renewal does NOT trigger it. A refund has to be requested separately through support, and only within those 30 days.
Cancel NordVPN step by step
- Open my.nordaccount.com and sign in.
- Go to Billing, then Subscriptions.
- Select Cancel automatic renewal and confirm.
- If you are within 30 days of purchase, contact support separately to request the refund.
- If you subscribed in the app, Apple bills you and Nord cannot refund it.
- Settings, your name, Subscriptions, NordVPN, Cancel Subscription.
- Refunds for App Store purchases go through reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If billed via Google Play, cancel there.
- Play Store, profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, NordVPN, Cancel.
Common questions
Does cancelling get me a refund?
No. Cancelling auto-renewal only stops future charges. The 30-day money-back guarantee is a separate request to support, and only valid within 30 days of the payment.
How do I actually claim the refund?
Contact NordVPN support through live chat or email within the 30-day window and ask for a refund under the money-back guarantee. It is generally granted without argument.
Does the guarantee apply to renewals?
Generally not. NordVPN states that once a subscription auto-renews, that payment falls outside the 30-day guarantee unless local consumer law says otherwise. The guarantee is aimed at the initial purchase, which is exactly why the renewal is the one to catch in advance.
What happens when my subscription ends?
The apps stop connecting to Nord servers. Your account remains, and you can resubscribe at any time.
Do I lose my saved settings?
Account-level settings stay. Local app preferences remain on the device until you uninstall.
What about NordPass or NordLocker?
They are separate subscriptions with their own billing and must be cancelled individually.
Why is the renewal price higher than what I paid?
Introductory multi-year pricing renews at the standard rate, which is often several times the first-term price. This is the most common complaint about VPN billing generally.
Can I cancel a multi-year plan early?
You can stop it renewing. Beyond the 30-day window there is normally no refund for the remaining term.
Does cancelling delete my account?
No. Deleting the Nord Account is a separate, permanent action.
Will I be told before it renews?
Nord sends a reminder email before renewal, but multi-year terms mean it may arrive two or three years after you last thought about it.
A two-year deal renews at a price nobody agreed to.
This is the sharpest version of the problem: an introductory rate for a long term, then a renewal at several times that price, arriving so long afterwards that most people have forgotten which service it even is.
