How to Cancel iCloud+ Storage (2026) — Safely
iCloud+ is downgraded rather than cancelled: you move back to the free 5GB tier. The mechanics are simple, but the order matters more here than with any other subscription on this site.
If you are storing more than 5GB — and photo libraries almost always are — download what you need first. Apple gives a 30-day grace period after downgrading, then starts removing data above the free limit.
Do not cancel before your data fits in 5GB. Apple keeps over-quota data for 30 days, then begins deleting it — and for most people photos alone are far past 5GB.
Cancel iCloud+ step by step
- Open account.apple.com and sign in, then go to iCloud settings.
- Select Manage Storage, then Change Storage Plan.
- Choose Downgrade Options and sign in again when prompted.
- Select the free 5GB plan and confirm.
- Open Settings and tap your name, then iCloud.
- Tap Manage Account Storage, then Change Storage Plan.
- Tap Downgrade Options, enter your password, then choose the free plan.
- iCloud+ is an Apple subscription and cannot be managed from Android.

Common questions
Will I lose my photos?
