How to Cancel Duolingo Super (2026) — Keep Your Streak
Super Duolingo is cancelled from the subscription settings, which are only reachable in a browser or through whoever bills you.
Nothing you have earned is lost. Streaks, XP, league placement and course progress all stay; you simply return to the free version with adverts and the hearts system.
Your streak and all course progress survive cancellation — they belong to the account, not the subscription. You return to the free tier with ads and hearts.
Cancel Duolingo Super step by step
- Open duolingo.com/settings/subscriptions and log in.
- Select Turn off automatic renewal, or Cancel subscription.
- Confirm, and check the page shows an end date.
- Most Duolingo subscriptions on iPhone are billed by Apple.

Do I lose my streak?
No. Streaks, XP and progress belong to your account and are unaffected by cancelling.
What do I actually lose?
Ad-free lessons, unlimited hearts, Legendary levels, unlimited mistake reviews and offline lessons. The courses themselves stay free.
Why is there no cancel button in the app?
Because Apple or Google usually bills it, and only their systems can cancel it. The Duolingo app cannot end a subscription it does not own.
Do I get a refund?
Duolingo directs refund requests to whoever billed you. Apple and Google both handle them case by case, generally for recent charges.
What happens to a family plan?
Cancelling as the owner removes Super from every member. Members can be removed individually instead if only some should keep it.
When does Super actually end?
