How to Cancel Apple TV+ (2026) — iPhone, Mac and Web
Apple TV+ is managed through your Apple Account rather than the app, which is why it is so often described as hard to cancel. It is not hidden, but it is not where you would look.
If you got a free year with a new iPhone, Mac or iPad, cancelling immediately still leaves you the full trial — Apple does not cut it short.
Apple TV+ is buried under your Apple Account, not inside the TV app's main menu. On iPhone it is Settings, your name, Subscriptions — three taps that almost nobody finds first time.
Cancel Apple TV+ step by step
- Open tv.apple.com and sign in, then click your profile icon and choose Settings.
- Find the Apple TV+ subscription and select Manage.
- Choose Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Apple TV+, then Cancel Subscription.
- Apple TV+ on Android is billed through Google Play if you subscribed in the app.
- Play Store, profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Apple TV+, Cancel.
Common questions
Where exactly is the cancel option on iPhone?
Settings, then your name at the very top, then Subscriptions. It is not in the TV app, and it is not under Apple Account settings elsewhere.
I got a free year with a new device. Will cancelling end it early?
No. You keep the trial to its final day and simply are not charged afterwards, so cancelling immediately is the safe move.
Do I get a refund?
There is no automatic refund for unused time, though Apple often refunds a recent accidental charge through reportaproblem.apple.com. If you are in the EU and it is less than 14 days since you signed up, you have more leverage than that: since a July 2026 EU Court of Justice ruling, streaming counts as a digital service, so starting to watch no longer waives your cooling-off right. You can withdraw within 14 days, pay only for the portion you actually used, and get the rest back. It is recent, so expect to have to name the right of withdrawal when you ask.
What happens to my downloads?
They stop playing when the subscription ends and are removed.
Does this affect Apple One?
If your TV+ came through Apple One, it cannot be cancelled separately — you change or cancel the whole Apple One plan instead.
Will my watch history be kept?
Yes, it stays with your Apple Account and returns if you resubscribe.
When does access stop?
At the end of the current billing period. Subscriptions in Settings shows the exact renewal or expiry date.
Can I cancel from an Apple TV box?
Yes: Settings, Users and Accounts, your account, Subscriptions.
Does cancelling affect iCloud or Apple Music?
No. Each Apple subscription is listed and cancelled separately in the same Subscriptions screen.
Why does it still say active after I cancelled?
Because access continues to the end of the paid period. It should say it expires on a date rather than renews on one.
A free year is the most reliable way to sell a subscription.
Trials that come bundled with hardware are designed around forgetting: twelve months is long enough that the renewal arrives with no context at all, and the charge looks like it has always been there.
Subzy lets you record a trial with its real end date and warns you before it converts. That is the entire mechanic, and it is why trials are the thing it earns its place on most.
