How to Cancel Amazon Prime (2026) — And Get a Refund
Amazon Prime is one of the few subscriptions where cancelling early can actually get money back. If you have not used the Prime benefits during the current period, Amazon may refund it in full.
It is also one of the harder ones to cancel, because the flow offers several alternatives — pause, downgrade, remind me later — before the actual cancel option appears.
If you have not used a single Prime benefit this billing period, you can get the whole payment back. Use one delivery and that option disappears.
Cancel Amazon Prime step by step
- Open amazon.com/manageyourprimemembership while signed in.
- Select End Membership, or Manage Membership then End Membership.
- Work past the retention offers. Amazon presents pausing and switching plans first; keep choosing the option that continues cancelling.
- Confirm on the final screen. The page should state the date your benefits end.
- Prime is usually billed by Amazon directly, even on iPhone, so cancel on the website above.
- If you subscribed through the App Store, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel there.
- Same as iPhone — Amazon almost always bills Prime directly.
- If it was through Google Play, cancel via Play Store, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions.

Can I get a refund?
Often, and this is unusual for a subscription. If you have not used any Prime benefit — no Prime delivery, no Prime Video, no Amazon Music — since the charge, Amazon refunds the current period in full, typically within three to five business days. Cancelling within three business days of signing up or converting from a trial is also refundable, minus the value of anything used.
What do I lose when it ends?
Free and fast delivery, Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming and the extra Photos storage all stop together at the end of the period.
Why does it keep offering to pause instead?
Because a pause keeps the membership alive and resumes billing later. If your intention is to stop paying, decline it — a paused membership comes back.
When does the membership actually end?
At the end of the current billing period unless you take a refund, in which case it can end immediately. The confirmation screen states which applies to you.
Does cancelling affect my Amazon account?
No. You keep the account, your order history and your saved addresses. Only the Prime benefits stop.
What happens to Prime Video purchases and rentals?

What about an annual membership I paid up front?
